Description
The post involves working with children and young people in a range of settings. These include primary care settings, other community settings, and other health service sites including Acute Hospitals, as required.

Lone working in the community is a major element of this job as is potential exposure to verbal and physical aggression.

The working environment includes exposure to high levels of distress in others. There is a requirement for substantial periods of concentration and sitting. The nature of the working environment requires regular and frequent travel from base to and between the above-mentioned settings. It also requires detailed work in terms of analyzing assessments and writing reports using relevant IT systems.


The CAMHS Clinical Lead will provide brief clinical risk and mental health assessment, formulation, short-term contingency planning for children and young people presenting in mental health crisis.

The CAMHS Clinical Lead will provide face-to-face assessments working closely with other mental health services and agencies; such as the police, ambulance and local authority.

Using a range of brief solution-focused interventions, Clinical Leads will empower patients, carers and their families in decision making and divert to a range of health and social care resources for support.

  • Co-ordinate shifts (this duty is shared with all other clinical leads)
  • Provide evidence based clinical interventions, making autonomous clinical decisions about
own professional practice.

  • Responsibility for the development, planning and implementation of brief care and
treatment interventions for children and young people in liaison with the First Response
Service.

  • Provide clinical leadership to the team, providing expert support and guidance regarding
the assessment and treatment of children and young people.

  • Provide assessment, planning and implementation of individual packages of care and
treatment.

  • Ensure that individual episodes of care are delivered in a timely, effective, and integrated
manner.

  • Promote a recovery model that empowers patients, carers and relatives to be at the
forefront of decision making and ownership of their packages of care and treatment.

  • Undertake clinical risk assessments, based on latest empirical evidence and compliant with
local policies and procedures. 8. Act as the patients and relatives' advocate.

  • Support with regular review of and troubleshooting within the CAMHS / FRS pathway.
  • Supervision of junior colleagues.
