Job Summary:
A Senior Policy Planner is urgently needed by a Local Planning Authority based in the West Midlands for a rolling 6-month contract.
You will play a lead role in assisting with the development, preparation, and revision of the councils Local Plan, progressing key documents through to Examination in Public and eventual adoption.
This will involve reviewing and updating existing Local Plan documents in conjunction with thematic policy areas covering housing, employment land, and demographic trends.
Additionally, you will update and coordinate key stakeholders and multi-disciplinary teams to deliver robust planning policy frameworks that facilitate the continued growth, investment, and development of one of the North West's most vibrant areas.
- Preparing, reviewing, and developing the council's Local Plan and affiliated thematic policy areas drafting technical planning policy documents.
- Preparing statutory and nonstatutory supporting documents,
- Progressing Local Plan policies through all relevant informal and statutory procedures,
- Managing, appointing, and coordinating the work of external consultants, conducting member briefings, coordinating extensive consultation exercises through liaison with community groups and strategic partners
- Reviewing and updating existing evidence base and policy documents to maximize the effectiveness of the council's Local Plan and emerging policies
