We are a small, family run company, with a very friendly and close knit team. We pride ourselves for a welcoming working environment, where no one says no to helping out their colleagues.
We're looking for an enthusiastic cheesemaker to help our current production team in the making of our award winning cheeses.
- You have a keen interest in cheese, either as a consumer or interested in learning a new skill
- You'll need to have a strong attention to detail and be able to follow instructions
- You'll be able to act quickly and responsively at key points of the cheese making process: our cheese production is time critical and needs some TLC.
- You'll need a good level of fitness, but you don't need to be a bodybuilder
- You'll have a keen interest in learning all about dairy processing.
- You want to work for a growing company, with exciting opportunities for career progression.
- You'll be a fan of cheese no need for previous experience we just ask that you are keen and willing to learn new skills
- You'll have a great attention to detail and the ability to follow set instructions and guidelines pertaining to all aspects of cheese making or other products.
- You'll enjoy working in a team but be confident in taking on personal responsibilities.
- You'll need to have a very high personal hygiene standard.
- You will probably find it easier if you have your own transport as we're on a beautiful farm 0.5 miles from the closest village (Upton Cross) and public transport is limited. This is not essential, providing you can get to and from the site.
- You'll enjoy working in a small, close team.
- You may even have a passion for the countryside and a rural setting: Knowle Farm is set on 218 acres of rolling fields on the edge of Bodmin Moor.
- To execute all products as per company specifications.
- To execute all making in a hygienic and professional manner.
- There is much manual work involved: lifting equipment and ingredients, and moving cheese wheels around nothing you lift will be over 15kg, if it is it is considered a 2 person job.
- Be responsible for meeting all time sensitive activities.
- To ensure cleaning rotas are adhered to at all times, and to a high standard.
- Where applicable to adhere to the organic standards as set out by the BDA.
- To contribute to the award winning standard of all The Cornish Cheese Company's cheeses.
- Be part of the team responsible for keeping the building clean.
- You'll ensure that all work carried out is in accordance with the training and supervision you receive and in accordance with the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act and The Cornish Cheese Company's risk assessments.
- You'll be reliable to turn up according to your rota.
Role requirements:
- Practical, logical nature.
- Complete the physical nature of the job.
- A cando, positive attitude.
- In busy periods we have a weekend rota, which is done on a rotation basis.
- We work on 8 hour shifts, these vary but are between the times of 6am and 6pm.

Job Type:
Variable hour contract
Salary:
Starting at £11.50 per hour for probation and training period, then reviewed and increased.
