Job Purpose


To safely deliver Engineering (Mechanical) shift support to site utilising staff, contractors, communication, information, policies and procedures in order to maintain and continuously improve asset, department and site performance.


They will work alongside Engineering team, to improve projects for benefit of the long-term strategy of the company and will be supportive in creating a sustainable work environment for the team.


Responsibilities

  • Work closely under the guidance of a shift team leader and management structure on appropriate skillbased task, in the continuing day to day operations of engineering and improving the engineering KPI
  • Delivery of prioritised planned or unplanned activities whilst ensuring people, bird and food safety is maintained in a timely manner to support operational requirements and take appropriate action to resolve and/or escalate where necessary.
  • Clearly understand internal and external customer requirements to facilitate effective deployment of yourself to meet those needs within the agreed timescales.
  • Care for ALL site assets through the effective use and interaction with the computerised maintenance management system, stores and administration functions to deliver planned and unplanned maintenance in a timely manner.
  • Take a support role or play an active part as required to manage any situation where animal welfare, people safety, environmental impact, plant/assets, or business integrity may suffer detriment or be adversely affected.
  • To develop and use problem solving techniques to prevent, detect and eliminate faults, abnormalities and inefficiencies.
  • To lead by example in your team, working in a safe manner and promoting all company policies including Health and Safety, Bird Welfare, Food Safety and Hygiene
  • Working in line with our culture of continuous improvement report any shortcomings in systems of work or procedures to the Department supervisor including improvements & solutions.
  • To liaise with all departments to ensure effective production of the products promoting teamwork.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
Essential

  • Basic Mechanical knowledge
  • Basic health and safety knowledge.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Selfmotivated, hardworking and organised
Desirable

  • Experience in working in the food industry especially Poultry slaughter/processing
  • UK recognised electrical or mechanical qualification
  • NVQ level 3/equivalent or Above
  • Approved Health & Safety training certificate/qualification
  • High risk working at height.
  • Hot working.
  • UK driving Licence.
  • Be able to fault find in both electrical and mechanical machines/systems.
  • Basic PLC I/O understanding.
  • Conversion qualifications (to Elec/Mech)
  • Good understanding of drives, motors, brakes, transmissions, closed loop feedback, transducers.
  • Ability to understand Electrical and mechanical Engineering Drawings
