The Greater Manchester Mental Health Tactical Advice Service (GM MH TAS) bases Senior Mental Health Practitioners in the Greater Manchester Police Control Room to provide real-time clinical advice to police officers via telephone in order for them to make more informed decisions when dealing with members of the public in potential crisis.

The post holder will work with local mental health and emergency services as an ageless offer to ensure that mental vulnerability is considered, triaged and high quality information and clinical advice is provided when an individual comes in contact with, or to the attention of, Greater Manchester Police and Greater Manchester Police believe that they may be
experiencing mental ill health and require support.

The post holder will support the Clinical Manager in carrying continuing professional and managerial responsibility for their clinical area. Contributing to the maintenance of the overall
service standards. The post holder will demonstrate an attitude which respects and values service users' and
their carers

Provide timely access to relevant all-age patient information
for Greater Manchester residents across the Service
Providers' areas which shall include CAMHS, learning
disabilities and older people.
Be contactable by police officers by telephone through a
single phone number for Greater Manchester
Provide prompt real-time professional advice to officers in the
community when notified of 'live' (on-going) incidents that
involve people with suspected mental ill health in crisis.
Navigate multiple electronic record systems to support a more
informed response to critical risk management.
Provide constructive, professional and clinically informed
advice to officers in the community, based on individual
context and the presenting situation.
Provide advice to officers in the community making full use of
the existing GM pathways and support to ensure they are
aware and have suitable access to all of options available to
