ABOUT THE TEAM


Ophthalmology services consist of outpatient clinics, theatres, 1 inpatient ward and essential services like eye Casualty and injection and Laser services.

The service is run by a team of doctors, nurses, Optometrists, Orthoptists and administrative staff.

The Ophthalmology Medical team consists of 30 consultants and 32 junior doctors covering all subspecialties within ophthalmology.

The post holder will be joining a team of administrative staff consisting of an Operations Manager, 3 Associate Operations Managers, 1 Access manager, Fail safe officers, Flow Coordinators and 3 dedicated booking teams and PPCs.

The Department has recently opened out new State-of-the-art Outpatient areas which doubled our OPD capacity. We have also recently bought new Laser machines to join the existing treatment kit.


The post holder will be working very closely with the Operations team and other administrative staff and will be responsible for rolling out the medical rosters under the guidance of the operations team.

WHAT YOU'LL DO


The post holder will be the lead for recruitment and contracting services for all Ophthalmology medical staff, with specific responsibility for coordinating the junior doctor timetable ensuring compliance with Working Time Directive, Any new working regulations and sustainability of deanery recommendations for Ophthalmology.

Other responsibilities include,

  • Support Key initiatives and projects
  • Participate in the recruitment and retention of medical staff
  • To advertise for longterm locums
  • Dealing with annual leave, salary queries and verification of previous service
  • You will be required to work closely with other patient pathway coordinators, consultants, junior doctors and the wider Eye Unit Team
