Electrical Designers are part of a team responsible for delivering complex electrical engineering solutions for a variety of collaborative science projects.

This will involve the specification, procurement, system integration, installation and commissioning of engineering systems to be located at various international science facilities.


We have a new and exciting opportunity for a
Senior Electrical Designer with extensive AutoCAD experience and project management skills to support high profile projects associated with particle accelerators, light sources and laser facilities.

This is a great opportunity for a hardworking and driven engineer who will be responsible for:

  • _Utilise their comprehensive knowledge and experience of AutoCAD to generate electrical drawings for international collaborative projects._
- _Negotiate and agree project requirements with customers and ensure the solutions offered conform to the relevant Standards and are aligned with the STFC Health and Safety policy._
- _Responsible for the electrical drawing office databases and the electrical design and drawing code of practice._
- _Lead a team of electrical designers, engineers and technician managers, coordinating design reviews and progress meeting to deliver complex engineering solutions._
- _Manage technical documentation and project files, continually improving the Divisions BS EN ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System_


Essential Shortlisting Criteria:


Applicants must be qualified to a minimum of Higher National Certificate or Diploma in electrical / electronic engineering or equivalent in a relevant discipline, complemented by practical experience in delivering projects involving high technology engineering systems, preferably for the science community.

Along with

  • Extensive knowledge of AutoCAD, specifically related to electrical engineering.
  • Practical experience in design, assembly, testing and commissioning of electrical or electronic systems.
  • Experience of working as part of a multidiscipline engineering team.
