Job Overview

We're looking for a diligent sub-editor with expertise in editing finance, business, or economics content, who is keen to focus on market-leading, data-driven news targeting the alternative assets industry.


Reporting to the Senior Manager of our Editorial team, the Sub-Editor will lead the editing of our news stories, aimed at a global audience of thousands of fund managers, investors, and other industry professionals.

Editing our news will entail working closely with Preqin's Content team, including experienced and highly skilled journalists and content creators.


The Sub-Editor will also work collaboratively with the rest of the Editorial and Content team, helping to ensure the smooth and timely delivery of our research and thought leadership publications, as well as with the Creative Services team.

Responsibilities:


In this role you will:


  • Subedit and proof Preqin news (ca. 1⁄2 of working week), and format it for upload to Preqin Pro, our data platform
  • Work collaboratively with the Editorial, Content, Research Insights, and Creative Services teams across our content
  • Maintain quality standards to detect inconsistencies in data and figures and enforcing editorial tone of voice and house style
  • Adhere to all deadlines and manage content streams to meet them
  • Assist team members where required with wider content marketing activities, including editing and proofing research reports, thought leadership, and social media content

Qualifications:

You are a good fit if you posess:

  • Minimum 1-2 years' experience writing or copy-editing financial, business, or economics copy
  • e.g. from editing publications for an asset manager, investment bank, or a business/economics research unit
  • Familiarity with key economics/statistics concepts that an audience of investment industry professionals would know
  • Firstclass editing and proofreading skills, with excellent knowledge of grammar and linguistic nuances in English
  • A sound understanding of the qualities behind good writing and storytelling, and the ability to bring them to the fore in others' work
  • A keen eye for detail, able to consistently catch informational or stylistic errors
  • Ability to detect the level of subediting required and suggest clear, constructive improvements where necessary
  • Familiarity with data and statistics and a good standard of numeracy skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, adept at working across teams
  • Demonstrable ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects to meet deadlines consistently
  • Selfmotivation, with the ability to work independently as well as in a team
  • Experience using Adobe Suite, in particular InDesign, and Microsoft Office, as well as familiarity with CMS systems/digital publishing channels
  • Some knowledge of SEO practices
