Applications are invited for the above post of Consultant in Cardiology based at Worthing Hospital, part of the University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.

Cardiology services are currently provided on our Brighton, Worthing and Chichester sites. Cardiac surgery is provided on the Brighton site.

This post is a replacement post for a colleague who has relocated.

The appointee will form part of a team of 7 full time and 2 less-then-full-time cardiologists at Worthing in delivering a comprehensive elective and in-patient Cardiology service for patients from across the Trust.


We are particularly seeking a Cardiologist with an interest in Heart Failure, Complex Devices or Imaging (Echo/TOE/Cardiac CT/cMRI) who can also contribute to the General Cardiology On-call Rota.

Our hospitals are all situated along the beautiful Sussex coast, nestled against the South Downs National Park, and close to vibrant towns that are richly endowed with excellent cultural and sporting facilities, offering good transport links to London and Europe.

The appointee will join the team of 8 Cardiologists at Worthing in delivering a comprehensive outpatient and inpatient Cardiology service for patients from across the Trust.

There will be a regular commitment to outpatient clinic activity.

There will be sessions in the cath lab for diagnostic angiography, pacing, complex device implants and/or EP procedures to suit the requirements of the successful appointee.

The appointee will contribute to teaching and supervision of medical students, junior medical staff and technicians/nurses.


Whilst the post will predominantly be based on the Worthing site, there is an expectation that some sessions may be delivered at St Richard's or Brighton depending on sub-specialty interest.

Applicants are encouraged to take part in Audit and support junior team members in their Audit projects. There are opportunities for clinical research.

On call (for cardiology) 1:6 weekends (Friday-Sunday) at Worthing, with additional proportional share of public holidays. No GIM on-call commitment.
