This position will be responsible for Contracts Management and business related legal activities for Honeywell Building Solutions (HBS) and Electrical Products (EP) in the UK & Nordics region, both business units of Honeywell Building Technologies (HBT).

HBS installs, integrates and maintains the systems to help keep buildings and facilities safe, secure, comfortable and cost-efficient, and is a leading provider of energy efficiency solutions worldwide.

HBS specializes in service of critical building systems, including heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), building automation, fire, security and energy management.

EP is a leading business in the electrical accessories market, setting the standards for quality, reliability and safety. EP's products power buildings across the world - from hospitals, universities and offices to hotels, homes and beyond. Today,


The role is based in Leicester, UK.


The Contracts Manager will be part of a team of two UK Contracts Managers and will work closely together with our existing Contracts Managers in other regions.


The Contract Manager will report to the General Counsel HBT Europe (solid line) and will also report to the Regional General Managers for HBS Install and Service for UK & Nordics (dotted line).


Responsibilities:


  • Review customer contract terms and conditions and make necessary amendments to align them with our terms and conditions policy and market practise
  • Lead customer negotiations to assure customer agrees to acceptable terms
  • Obtain necessary approvals according our Schedule of Executive Approvals and our Approval Process for deviations to our terms and conditions policy and market practice
  • Facilitate the booking gate per our booking policies
  • Develop and improve on other contracting processes as required
  • Assure compliance of our Sales Team with our Approval Processes / eCAP and other policies and procedures as required
  • Support Project Management and execution in any legal postcontract disputes
  • Support and function as a focal point for external law firms to manage litigations
  • Support our claims processes as required, identify and mitigate contractual and commercial risks
  • Support the Sales Team in bidding processes especially at complex public bidding procedures
  • Support Back-Office, Finance and Working Capital Teams in order acknowledgements, claim management, getting receivables in and bank guarantee procedures
  • Support Supply Chain Management in obtaining framework agreements with suppliers or subcontractors
  • Provide timely monthly reports of contract metrics and complex legal issues

Knowledge & Qualification

  • Solid knowledge of English Construction law civil, trade and contracting laws
  • Some knowledge of the Nordics regions would be a plus
  • Knowledge in public procurement law is a plus
  • Expertise and solid experience in contract negotiation principles and techniques
  • Understanding of financial concepts and impact of contract terms on those concepts
  • Solid knowledge of laws and regulations governing the contracts (construction law background)
  • Ability to multitask on a large number of complex contract issues
  • Ability to find, argue and gain acceptance of new approaches and objectives
  • Ability to work in a matrix organization and support the business from a functional leadership perspective

Education & Experience

  • Education: Legal degree in English law or a comparable background e.g. Master in Construction Law etc.
  • Any additional legal or commercial education is a bonus
  • Experience: 7+ years in commercial business or industry, preferably large companies in construction or technology industries
  • Experience with high quality, high cost products, services, and/or complex projects is a bonus
  • Experience in contractual dispute management
  • Sound experience in analysing contract terms & conditions and intelligent assessment of risks
  • Strong contract negotiation and drafting skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Function as a team player, friendly, polite and selfmotivated, adaptable and goaloriented, willing to be a business enabler
