Description

The role includes provision of specialist advice on diagnosis and management of patients with infection or suspected infection: Liaison in a timely manner with clinicians, hospital staff, medical microbiologists, general practitioners and Public Health practitioners (as appropriate) concerning the diagnosis and management of patients with infection.

Availability to deal with clinical queries and provision of specialist input or expertise where required.

Regular commitments to wards/departments or units for example on ward rounds (including antibiotic ward rounds with antibiotic pharmacist); contribute to multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meetings and other clinical or audit meetings as appropriate.

Contribute to management of patients receiving OPAT [Outpatient/Home Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy].

Perform regular ICU ward round and clinical liaison and appropriate ward rounds. Contribute to development and review of antibiotic policies and infection management guidelines. The appointee will take a share of responsibility for day to day Departmental commitments with consultant colleague.
