Our client based in Sunderland have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Technical Estimator on a permanent basis. Applicants must be from an Engineering background and be educated to degree level or equivalent.Job description:
- Support the owner/director in delivering the strategy for the business through engineering solutions whether software, electronic or mechanical (depending upon knowledge and skill base).
- Assess the required solution for customer and source costings for the end to end job.
- Provide quotation for internal sign off and onward transmission to customer.
- Ensure the quote is comprehensive to include resource price, timescales and the cost of materials.
- Validate quote with end of project outcome to learn lessons from experience.
- Create the conditions to win new business and retain existing clients.
- Be the best advocate for the company, its services and products and culture.
- Work with the Engineering Team to establish feasibility, pricing and timescale estimates for the products and services demanded by the market.
- Tailor offerings to the needs of individual customers and frame the offer through expert knowledge of products and services aligned to the customer demand be flexible
- Demonstrate effective selling and negotiating techniques which are appropriate to the market
- Target prospects, meet and present the case for doing business, formally and informally.
- Receive reports at agreed review points and influence next steps.
- Along with the MD be the visible presence of the company within the market place.
- Maintain regular communication with stakeholder partners and business/industry forums.
- Work with the senior team to establish a method to test Customer Experience and the customer journey so as to enhance the Sales offer.
- Research materials and methods of development to keep up with world class standards of engineering.
- Ensure that ISO standards are fully embedded and observed in design development and commissioning.
- Ensure full adherence to health and safety obligations.
- Check performance against the current forecast project delivery plan, call out issues and propose solutions to resolve snags
- Feed issues into the wider team for consideration of any adjustment to short and medium term plan and/or strategic plan review
- Educated to degree level or equivalent.
- Range of industry competencies and licences.
- 5 years in a senior capacity in complex engineering environment.
