Key Duties

  • Make a key contribution to the generation of online and offline content including communications for enquirers, applicants, and offerholders. Support the Senior International Marketing Officer in producing communications and marketing strategies to utilise content targeted at key audience groups
  • Oversee international social media activities on platforms including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Weibo. Generate organic, paid and earned content while monitoring and evaluating presence and performance to provide suggestions for improvement.
  • Support the University's English Language Programmes Team in recruitment and marketing activities to promote inhouse English language programmes and provision.
  • Take a proactive approach in supporting the roll out of the new university brand proposition ensuring that our marketing channels are kept up to date, relevant and inline with the project.
  • Support the development and coordination of activities to generate rich content for a mix of channels including web, prospectuses, brochures, videos, photography, social and other digital materials. Support the Marketing and Campaigns Team in the liaison with external suppliers such as advertising agencies and internal stakeholders to support such activities.
  • Develop editorial plans for studentgenerated content across the most effective platforms. Recruit, select, train and manage student ambassadors who are supporting marketing communications efforts and take editorial responsibility for content.
  • Develop excellent working relationships with colleagues from across the Colleges and Professional Services teams including Residences and Student Support and Wellbeing, and with the Students' Union, to ensure that all parts of the student experience are communicated effectively.
  • Support the University's work in developing data driven marketing tracking and monitoring users' interactions throughout the recruitment journey and evaluating the benefit of the interactions, using our CRM system.
  • Support the drafting, build and set up of communications and campaigns, including the development of automated communications.
  • Support the Marketing and Campaigns Team in the evaluation of marketing campaigns and marketing materials, making recommendations for improvement.
  • Contribute to successful delivery of recruitment events, including support for Open Days and occasionally undertake school visits or represent the university at exhibitions.
  • Undertake a variety of administrative duties to support the department.
  • Instruct and guide other employees across the University with regards to marketing communications as required.
  • Support the maintenance and curation of content related to international students on the Cardiff University website and intranet.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

Qualifications and Education

  • Degree/NVQ 4 or equivalent Professional membership/experience.
    Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Substantial experience of working within marketing and/or communications particularly within a digital and/or social media capacity.
  • 3. Able to demonstrate professional knowledge within marketing to give advice and guidance to internal and external customers.
  • 4. Significant experience of writing and proofing copy for a range of materials, both hard copy and digital.
  • 5. Experience working with design software to create professional and visually appealing content.
    Customer Service, Communication and Team Working
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills. Proven ability to convey information which may require careful explanation in a clear and accurate manner to a wide range of audiences whose first language may not be English.
  • 7. Evidence of ability to explore customers' needs and adapt the service accordingly to ensure a quality service is delivered.
    Planning, Analysis and Problem Solving
  • Evidence of ability to solve expansive problems using initiative and creativity; identifying and proposing practical solutions and resolving problems with range of potential outcomes.
  • 9. Evidence of ability to work unsupervised to deadlines, planning and setting priorities for own work and that of others and monitoring progress.

  • Demonstrable appreciation of, and sensitivity to, different cultures.

  • Experience of capturing or commission video and photography.
