AXA Retail Intermediary are currently looking for a Specialist Motor Underwriter, to join the Personal Lines Specialist Motor Team.


The UK Personal Lines Intermediary market is a highly competitive, dynamic and a fast-paced arena, and will require the individual to navigate and manage various priorities internally and externally, with the ability and flexibility to adapt to change.

Profitable growth of the Retail Intermediary business is a key part of AXA UK strategic plans, that need to be realised with the best talent and tools to succeed.

The Specialist Motor Underwriter, manages the performance of the broker account(s) both in terms of premium and profit performance. Underwriting of the individual accounts will be a key element, along with managing existing relationships and developing new relationships.

This will be achieved by making pricing and underwriting interventions as appropriate, whilst ensuring robust governance & oversight of the broker accounts are realised.

What you'll be doing:


  • Delivery of planned GWP and profit targets for the relevant segment portfolio, and of allocated broker accounts within that segment, taking full ownership and accountability for delivery against financial targets and action plans
  • As part of the overall target COR delivery, manage the loss ratio performance and commission against plan, in the relevant segment portfolio and for allocated broker accounts. Proactively identify issues and take decisive, corrective action where required
  • Develop a pipeline of new opportunities in the short, medium and long term and actively manage those
  • Assist in the assessment and production of appropriate response to new opportunities presented by both existing and new partners
  • Ensure robust governance & oversight of broker accounts. Drive adherence with brokers of all required regulatory, governance and compliance requirements in an effective and timely manner including 3RM, Fair Value Assessments, GIPP, audits and other requirements as necessary
  • Ensure all audits are completed within agreed time frames and any audit actions are completed by agreed deadlines
  • Proactively seek partner feedback on all aspects of AXA performance and work with AXA teams to deliver improvements where required
  • Develop and maintain strong internal relationships to drive positive business outcomes
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting on broker account performance
  • Ensure all contracts are reviewed per set time frames

Qualifications:


  • Sound knowledge of the Personal Lines Intermediary motor market and operating environment, including market trends and developments for relevant products
    (experience of the UK Classic Car/Modified/Convicted driver market or experience of the UK Motorcycle Market would be preferable):
  • Thorough understanding of relevant Personal Lines products from a technical and pricing perspective
  • Strong numeracy and analytical skills
  • Understanding and driving of key governance, conduct & compliance requirements
  • Negotiation and influencing skills
  • Interpersonal and relationship management skills including effective stakeholder management
  • Experience of portfolio or trading roles and/or account management
  • A Level or equivalent qualification
  • ACII/Diploma or progress towards or other relevant professional qualification


As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorized to work in the United Kingdom.
