Description
An independent, private outpatient clinic is looking for a billing assistant to join our small, friendly accounts department. Previous experience of working in the finance/billing environment is desirable. Knowledge of the medical industry would be beneficial, however full training will be provided. Please note we do not offer the option of hybrid-remote working for this role.

  • Undertaking daily invoicing process in a timely manner for selffunding patients, insurance companies, special agreement holders and embassies
  • Liaising with relevant staff and consultants if necessary to obtain billing information
  • Ensuring invoices are checked against the laboratory reports to ensure correct coding and appropriate fees are billed
  • Ensuring selffunding patients are billed and chased for payment prior to being admitted to hospital
  • Sending daily prepayment links to patients and letting other departments know where major procedures have not been prepaid to ensure payment is obtained before procedure goes ahead
  • Working with Accounts Department Manager to solve Healthcode errors, setting up new codes on Meddbase and Healthcode
  • Producing weekly and monthly statistics in a timely manner
  • Assisting different parties with various billing queries and pricing
  • Taking payments over the phone and issuing receipts where necessary
  • Assisting credit control with adhoc duties, e.g. BACS payment allocation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Good communication skills
