Roslea Surgery is an ever expanding and training, 6 doctor GP practice in the heart of Bamber Bridge. We are a friendly, progressive, and forward-thinking practice and are always striving for efficiency and excellence in patient care.

You will be joining a well-established administration team who pride themselves on working collaboratively to provide excellent administrative support to the wider practice.


We are seeking an enthusiastic person with excellent attention to detail to complete our admin team, with a can-do attitude who is calm and collected under pressure.

Strong IT skills, excellent communication skills and a fabulous team player is essential.

This role will support the clinical team by assessing all medical documents that enter the practice and the administration team by helping them reach their targets.

Previous experience working within the medical profession with a background in clinical coding is desirable.


Main duties, including but not limited to:

Scanning and Filing

  • Sort and date stamp all incoming patient related mail into various mailboxes.
  • Scan patient related documents onto their medical record using read codes as agreed by the clinical team
  • Add any additional information about the source of the document
  • Forward the document to the doctor or nurse who initiated the referral or who is most appropriate to receive the information or as directed by the managing partners
  • Ensure incoming letters are scanned onto the patient record within a 48/72 hour timescale
  • Scan all internal paper documents on to the relevant patients record and then store the documents in line with surgery procedures.

Coding

  • Identify relevant clinical information contained in patient correspondence
  • Code using read codes and problem titles with relevant priorities as per practice guidelines or free text the clinical information on to the patient record as trained and advised.
  • Deal with queries relating to coding
  • Summarise incoming records

Health & Safety:

The post-holder will assist in promoting and maintaining their own and others' health, safety and security as defined in the Practice Health & Safety Policy, to include:

  • Using personal security systems within the workplace according to Practice guidelines
  • Identifying the risks involved in work activities and undertaking such activities in a way that manages those risks
  • Making effective use of training to update knowledge and skills
  • Using appropriate infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy and safe way and free from hazards
  • Reporting potential risks identified
