What we do:


The purpose of the Operational Change manager role is to analyse, manage and implement multiple change items within Front Office Services.

The change manager role may include the management of 1 or more change analysts either via direct reporting line orindirectly via matrix mgmt.

The role or majority of change items may be aligned to a specific function such as Derivatives book of change or be generic in nature covering all/many Front Office Services functions.

Change will include (but is not limited to)initiatives raised within COO to reduce risk and/or increase efficiency and initiatives raised by external entities (Aviva Investors teams outside COO, Aviva teams outside Aviva Investors, clients or other external partners).

The role includes the analysisof proposed change and the impact to existing processes within Aviva Investors and outsource partners, the identification and documentation of solutions and the testing and implementation of those solutions.

Changes may be isolated/specific to a particularproblem set or part of a larger programme of work. All solutions will consider both ongoing efficiency and Aviva Investors risk appetite.

  • Manage and prioritise your own book of work and any change analysts that are being managed
  • Decide and/or agree project priorities with internal or external stakeholders
  • Analyse internal or external change initiatives impacting operations and socialised, management supported recommendations for solutions.
  • Assess end to end operational processes and identify dependencies, failure points, impacts, risks and controls.
  • Fully document or articulate findings and present to sponsors, management and impacted teams to obtain consent & approval for change implementation
  • Identify and call out to management team any potential risks or controls failure points observed during analysis or reviews
  • Represent Operations at meetings, forums or project working groups where change is being considered, managed or reviewed
  • Proactively engage with internal and external partners to progress analysis and implementation
  • When completing analysis, try to identify opportunities to reduce complexity and simplify processes whilst identifying & minimising potential risks to our business and appropriate controls to address
  • Adhere to reporting frameworks, best practices and time frames within Operations or as agreed with internal or external partners
  • Communicate in a concise, balanced and effective manner regardless of communication method. Ensure communication style is appropriate for the audience/recipient and is always considered
  • Escalate to management any immediate or potential risks or control failures regardless of ownership
  • Understand and respect any organizational structures internally & externally
  • Balance workloads across multiple projects to ensure traction and delivery are maintained in accordance with agreed deadlines or as directed by immediate management team
  • Own and progress assigned actions and manage any challenges with dependencies on other internal or external parties. Escalate when necessary
  • Maintain an independent & unbiased view and be prepared to challenge the status quo.

Experience & Qualifications:


  • Experience of investment management middle office processes (insourced or outsourced) supported with good background knowledge of the investment management industry, functions & services.
  • Track record in managing complex change either within a project governance or operational role
  • Demonstrable analytical and problem solving skills
  • Proven ability to produce documentation with excellent attention to detail.
  • Good presentation abilities and comfortable presenting to an audience
  • Able to use and interpret financial data quickly and effectively.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to work with mínimal supervision whilst adhering to deadlines.
Highly Desirable

  • Aladdin Experience
  • Ideally educated to A level and or professional qualification
  • IAQ and/or IMC would be advantageous
  • Project Management qualification would be advantageous.
