Milk Education is working with a SEND Secondary School in North Liverpool who are looking to employ a Learning Support Mentor.

The role will involve providing support to children who require assistance.

You will assist them as a 1:1 supporter in the classroomto aid their social, emotional and behavioural challenges through relationship building and implementing strategies, as well as supporting them academically with their concentration on set tasks.

This job is full-time 08:30am

  • 15:30pm Starting in January 2023.

Specific duties and responsibilities:

  • Work as a mentor (11 and in groups) with a view to helping them develop skills that equip them to better manage their behaviour and work constructively with others.
  • Plan and facilitate structured games and activities to support pupils to make appropriate choices during unstructured times such as lunch and break times.
  • Encourage the inclusion of this pupil with SEMH needs by using positive behaviour management techniques designed to develop the pupil's ability to behave appropriately with the inclusion of behaviour management strategies set in place by the school.
  • Provide specific support to this pupil dependent upon their individual needs and implement strategies to support this pupil with social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties
  • Model, within the class, support strategies that will encourage and develop appropriate behaviour in a variety of settings i.e. with individuals and group/whole class
  • Model groupbased activities that will develop this pupil's problemsolving, listening, and social skills

This role requires:

  • An ability to build positive relationships and a rapport with young people
  • A resilient and positive nature
  • Experience with SEMH is beneficial but not a requirement
  • Experience in classrooms supporting students
  • An enthusiastic and positive approach to supporting young people in education.
  • A genuine passion for helping young people to fulfil their potential and flourish in education.
