We're looking for an experienced finance professional to join our Business Partnering team as
Senior Finance Business Partner for our
Enabling services directorates, which includes Finance, IT, Corporate affairs and People.

You'll be based from our new head office in Basingstoke, combining office and home working to ensure a positive work / life balance.


The Role


Reporting to the Finance Operations Director and being accountable to our CFO, CPTO and CIO and CEO, this is a key role within the team giving you the opportunity to work in partnership with Executive Directors and Senior Leadership teams to provide sound financial advice to support strategic decision making and help shape our Enabling services finance strategies.

You will proactively challenge, introduce new ideas, add measurable value and drive the progressive development of the business.

We strive to continually evolve the partnering service model to meet the changing needs of the business and you'll work closely with the Finance Operations Director to simplify processes, enhance performance reporting and strengthen the culture in support of our strong business partnering vision.


Responsibilities include:

  • Developing trusted relationships with leadership teams within Enabling services, analysing both the immediate and longerterm financial implications of strategic decisions
  • Accountability for the production of timely, accurate monthly management reports and information, including KPI reporting, detailed variance analysis and bespoke budget holder reports
  • Responsibility for producing monthly and quarterly forecasts as well as annual budgets
  • Overseeing relevant Enabling Services Directorates input into the Group's business planning process (5 year and 30 year)
  • Ensuring that evolving business requirements are fully evaluated, providing insightful analysis to highlight areas of opportunity and risk whilst assessing value for money performance
  • Indirect line management across a team of finance specialists, supporting their personal development

What we need from you


You should be a Qualified Accountant with demonstrable experience in a finance business partnering role with exposure to key management stakeholders, preferably within enabling services sectors (Finance, IT, Corporate Affairs, People).

Any experience from within housing would be beneficial but is not essential.

To be successful in this role you'll need to:

  • Possess a commercial and strategic approach to business partnering with the ability to negotiate with and influence senior operational business leaders
  • Have strong initiative and drive, proactively gaining a full understanding of the breadth and complexity of our Enabling services directorates
  • Prioritise exceptional customer service, nurture credibility with internal stakeholders and demonstrate a high level of professional integrity
  • Demonstrate strong, working knowledge of processes and controls; experienced in financial performance reporting (including monthly management reports, quarterly forecasts and annual budgets)
  • Ideally, hold experience in managing a small team and the ability to drive commitment and positivity during a period of exciting transformation
  • Be a confident communicator, presenting your analysis and advice clearly and succinctly to senior leaders and Board subcommittees to enable accurate financial business planning
  • Knowledge of Agresso Accounting system and Uniclass job costing system would be advantageous
