An opportunity has developed for someone to join our well established team.

This role involves working within the Fetal Medicine and Antenatal Screening Team.

The post will support the Fetal Medicine Midwife and the Screening Midwife to provide an efficient, empathic and kind service to women passing through our Fetal Medicine and Screening Service.


As a team member, the post holder will ensure that streamlined administrative processes are implemented and followed which are focused on the patient and their individual needs.

The Fetal Medicine and Screening Administrator will provide effective and efficient administrative support to the team and will act as a focal point of communication between patients, doctors and other healthcare professionals.


  • Be a consistent point of telephone contact for referring clinicians into our Fetal Medicine service and any women undergoing investigations as part of the service.
  • Answer the telephone quickly, in a polite manner and facilitate the booking of fetal scan appointments over the telephone.
  • Ensure that all patients are offered appointments within the correct timeframe and to escalate appropriately if this is not possible.
  • Undertake the necessary clerical and administrative duties to ensure the registration of Fetal Medicine and fetal ECHO referrals, the booking of appointments into Soliton/Cerner and inputting information into Viewpoint for each referral made.
  • The post holder is responsible for updating and managing the appropriate spreadsheet accordingly.

  • Monitor and report on clinic booking levels to facilitate service planning and ensure clinics booked efficiently this will involve liaising with the ultrasound department regarding room availability.
  • Liaise with medical staff and midwifery group practices with regard to appointment times, miscarriage/cancellation/DNA's.
  • Organise Fetal Medicine Clinic lists, change appointments, should it be requested, ensuring appropriateness and within the antenatal schedule.
  • Ensure accurate information is entered onto the computer systems i.e. Cerner/Soliton/Viewpoint/spreadsheet.
  • Manage and update the Fetal Medicine clinic on the Soliton System ensuring to allocate consultant dates appropriately including additional urology slots. Undertake regular printing activities e.g. Fetal Medicine Clinic lists.
  • To support the Fetal Medicine and Screening midwives with the administration of trisomy 21, trisomy 13 and trisomy 18 screening results and upload results onto Viewpoint and Cerner.
