The SCF will participate in a rota which will give you experience on the geriatric wards including the care of geriatric and general medical patients.
You will be part of a Consultant led team of junior doctors and help lead and participate in ward rounds and board rounds.
There will be consultant led ward rounds of new patients, with Registrar/SCF led ward rounds of existing patients.There will be opportunity for the SCF to carry out supervised outpatient clinics and MDTs in geriatric medicine and care of the elderly.
The SCF will participate in general medical on calls at on the SPR on call rota.
We also offer time for the SCF to develop a special skill or interest, and all of our SCFs are encouraged to participate in departmental and Trust initiatives as well as Quality Improvement projects.
The main parts of the post involve the care of inpatients under the relevant medical specialty, working in clinic and outpatients, and performing the regular functions of a Medical Registrar.

The SCF will participate in general medical on calls at on the SPR on call rota.The SCF will liaise with the consultant and nurses to allocate the day's activity appropriately.
The SCF will be expected to assess and manage patients with the support of the consultant and using appropriate clinical guidelines.

Provide High Quality Care to Patients- The post holder must be medically qualified and maintain GMC specialist registration.
- To develop and maintain the competencies required to carry out the duties required of the post.
- To provide the highest quality of care to patients.
- To ensure prompt attendance at all clinical and non clinical duties duties.
- To liaise with clinical colleagues and across the multidisciplinary team and participate in relevant MDTs.
