Description
The post is open to qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWPs) as part of an MRC DPFS grant awarded to

Prof Hugo Critchley:
"HeartRater: Clinical - Optimizing ADIE therapy for the treatment of anxiety in underserved populations."

The project seeks to develop and test a novel treatment for anxiety based on interoceptive training and includes the conduct of a feasibility clinical trial in patients.

Responsibilities include research assessments, online therapy delivery, and clinical assessments of trial participants.

Work will mainly be conducted independently from home, with occasional travel to trial sites if required.

The postholder will join thriving and friendly NHS- and University-based research teams and will have the opportunity to develop research skills as part of their post.

As a team, we have a strong track record of research workers progressing to PhD and clinical psychology and other related training programmes.

The post holder will work together with NHS sites and the research team to deliver a novel, body-based therapy to adults with anxiety disorders.

The therapy uses specialized equipment and software, and the post holder will require excellent IT-skills to support participants through online video chat in delivering therapy.

The PWP will also be the point of contact between stakeholders in the clinical trial (research team, NHS sites, NHS trusts) and require excellent communication and organizational skills.

We are a multidisciplinary research team at the Department of Clinical Neuroscience, Brighton and Sussex Medical School. We work together with Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, where this post will be located. Our bench-to-bedside research focuses on brain-body interactions in mental health conditions.

The PWP will support the delivery of this project, working with the Project Manager Dr Lisa Quadt and Research Assistant Amy Kartar to deliver specific clinical trial activities.
