We are recruiting for an accomplished and hands-on Estates and Buildings Supervisor. The post holder will work alongside colleagues, supervise the team works and support the Deputy Head of Estates and Facilities Manager. As Estates and Buildings Supervisor, the post holder will deliver operational excellence and continuous improvement across FMDM Ladywell, while ensuring that all works completed in a timely and professional manner. The Estates and Buildings Supervisor is required to assist in the day-to-day routine and programmed maintenance of the estate.


This is a full-time role, working mainly across Monday to Friday, however, please note that there may be additional out of hours working and this role will take part in the Emergency On-Call Rota.

The Franciscan Missionaries of the Divine Motherhood (FMDM) is an International Religious Congregation of Catholic women.

Ladywell Convent is the Congregation's motherhouse, the campus is home to our FMDM Sisters, who have retired from active ministry overseas and comprises of a Newly refurbished Retreat Centre, 38-bed nursing home, 26 bedrooms, 9 self-contained flats, a workshop building, staff rest facilities and St Francis gatehouse (offices) set in 80 acres.

As well as this, there are 11 satellite properties within the UK that accommodate small communities of Sisters to carry out their ministries.


About the role


As the Estates and Buildings Supervisor, you will be required to support and coordinate projects and works as instructed by the Deputy Head of Estates and Facilities Manager.

This will include having an overview of the maintenance requirements, understanding, and delivering solutions, in a timely manner and set work schedules.

For this role you must understand what is required to enhance, maintain, and improve the properties of FMDM.

As the Estates and Buildings Supervisor will

  • Supervise the works of the estates and maintenance team, including the daytoday works programme, under the direction of the Deputy Head of Estates and Facilities Manager. While ensuring that works are delivered, in a safe manner, considering all current H & S regulations in the workplace
  • Support to ensure the maintenance budget is used effectively and understand the need for ensuring the best value for money
  • Be a handon and member of the estates team and ensure that the maintenance programme is fully operational and works completed accordingly.
  • Have an awareness and understanding of Ladywell, including where servicing is required and preventative maintenance, as directed by the Deputy Head of Estates and Facilities Manager and Head of Estates and Facilities
  • Supporting reviewing and implement gardening works, including ensuring the estates team are delivering gardening support in line with the seasonal requirements.

About you


To succeed in this role, you will need to have relevant experience, in both supervising diverse works and supporting in the day-to-day management needs of buildings and estates.

You will be motivated and passionate, with a clear and innovative way of thinking that motivates those around you. You'll need to be friendly, approachable, and able to use your own initiative.

This is a hands-on role, where you will not only supervise and manage the teams works, but also act as a key team member, supporting as and when required, with various maintenance and estates tasks.


For this role you will need to have relevant qualifications, a full clean driving licence, first aid training, knowledge of fire safety, IOSH, manual handling and be able to use Office 365.
