We are seeking a motivated team-player to join the Repairs service as a Driver/Loader to ensure the delivery of the repairs and maintenance materials, while also achieving a high-level of customer satisfaction.

You will support our service in delivering a comprehensive service to agreed standards and targets.


Within this role, you will receive jobs via a team of office schedule of staff, in order to carry out necessary daily reactive deliveries and rubbish collection throughout our Housing assets.

All works to be completed to latest legislation and a high standard.


Working under the direction of a Transport Manager, alongside a team of other Driver/Loaders to deliver a service ensuring materials are delivered to and from site for the Repairs service to run to a high standard.

Important

  • To take responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons / vulnerable adults in your care and those who you come into contact with.
  • To operate a continually effective daily delivery / refuse collection service for Islington Council Repairs Service.
  • To ensure the delivery of services to repairs operations are achieved completely, effectively and on time.
  • Assisting in the loading and unloading of the vehicles, using where necessary mechanical aids, and completion of associated paperwork.
  • Undertake, either individually or as a member of the team, duties concerned with the removal of household and commercial refuse from a variety of locations. These duties will require the use and operation of the usual range of associated tools and equipment.
  • To maintain allocated Council vehicle in a clean and tidy condition, both inside and out, at all times and as per instructions.
  • To make sure that before driving a vehicle, it is in a fit and serviceable condition by carrying out legal and other proscribed daily and weekly routine checks as directed and to report any defects on the appropriate form.
  • To report all accidents, difficulties or problems as soon as practicable following occurrence to the Transport Manager. The initial report must be made verbally within 24 hours followed by a written report, as necessary, within 48 hours. In respect of road traffic accidents, liability must not be admitted, expressed or implied at any time whatever the circumstances.
  • To ensure that the security of the vehicle (as well as any passengers or goods carried) is maintained at all times and especially before leaving the vehicle at the end of the working day.
  • To input job status information on the PDA handset in a prompt and timely manner to enable efficient route planning and works scheduling. To activate and deactivate the PDA before commencement and after conclusion of the working day.
  • Applicants must hold a current LGV driving licence.
  • To undertake other duties commensurate to the grade of the post
