As the Project Administrator the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective Alliance support service across the Peninsula.


The Alliance is a collaborative of several stakeholder organisations which include NHS hospitals, GPs and primary care, public health and the voluntary sector.

Since April 2021 in Devon and Cornwall, many of these stakeholders have been organised into Integrated Care Systems.

You will be expected to liaise with all our stakeholders which include senior clinicians & senior managers and you will need to be persuasive and persistent in order to support the Alliance's work.


Some of your daily tasks may include but are not limited to:

  • To assist with analysing large data sets and making them presentable to a large number of stakeholders, it will be beneficial to have some interest in analyses.
  • They will need to be confident with multitasking and competing priorities as they are the main support for the Peninsula Cancer Alliance and will be expected to be able to assist with the communications strategy particularly around social media and local press.
  • Assistance with stakeholder events and educational days, this will include travel around the Southwest and access to a vehicle is a must have.
  • Help to coordinate some smaller projects so a background in cancer support work or in cancer services e.g., cancer support worker/ navigator would be advantageous.

Main duties of the job continued...

Improving quality and outcomes

  • To enable the effective participation by all stakeholder organisations in the Alliance
  • To support the Chair and the Managing Director to run the Alliance business
  • To lead on projects as required thereby supporting the improvements in access and outcomes for cancer patients and their families
  • To work collaboratively across the NHS England/Improvement and with the Devon & Cornwall IoS ICS
Enabling patient and public involvement

  • To act as a champion for patients and their interests and involve the public and patients in the policy development and decisionmaking of NHS England.
  • To ensure all public and patient contact with the office is of the highest professional standard.
  • To embed patient and public involvement within NHS England at all levels of decision making.
Promoting equality and reducing inequalities

  • To uphold organisational policies and principles on the promotion of equality.
  • To create an inclusive working environment where diversity is valued, everyone can contribute, and everyday action ensure we meet our duty to uphold and promote equality.
Partnership and cross boundary working

  • To work in partnership with statutory organisations, the voluntary sector (including Macmillan Cancer Support) and established patient/carer and community groups.
