The Project Controller will act as a co-pilot in our Project Execution teams and will be the lead finance individual (essentially a project CFO) responsible for driving a strong control environment and no-surprise culture within their project portfolio.


This position is truly a bridge between the operational & financial functions of the organization and, as such, would suit individuals who have demonstrated ownership and accountability for delivering results in a matrixed environment or working as a business partner to operational functions to jointly drive organizational success.

Tasks and Qualifications:


Key Accountabilities:


  • Serve as project financial lead for assigned portfolio
  • Joint responsibility with project managers for the financial success of the projects.
  • Partner with Project Managers by providing project forecast preparation, analysis & reporting
  • Partner with the execution team (PM, engineering, purchasing, installation) in order to mitigate/minimize potential deviations from budget and schedule to ensure financial targets are achieved
  • Partner with the execution team on the identification of risks, contribute to quantifying risks and set up mitigation plans, as well as identification of opportunities and improve project profitability
  • Manage project financial projections (Estimates at Complete) and ensure forecast accuracy and any deviations from the budget are clearly quantified and supported by root cause documentation
  • Contract review and performance monitoring to drive favorable financial results through Change Order management activities
  • Monthly presentation of project financial performance to VP/Director of project execution
  • Participate in project team meetings to ensure forecast commitments are delivered
  • Responsible for internal control and adherence to compliance and governance processes
  • Ensure correct order intake booking
  • Monitor revenue recognition according to IFRS1
  • Optimize project cashflow by overseeing invoicing and collections activities
  • Manage FX risk and hedges
  • Request and manage guarantees and insurances as requested
  • Support ad hoc analysis & other duties as assigned to improve the performance of the project controlling function

Qualifications & Experience:


  • Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in Accounting or Finance or a related field of study with applicable experience
  • 5+ years experience in either a projects business (preferred) or a manufacturing plant
  • Strong sense of ownership & accountability with demonstrated ability to deliver success whilst working with an operational business partner
  • Ability to build relationships while challenging and proactively driving improvements and change
  • Encourages a team spirit of continuous development and actively seeks feedback on their performance
  • Promotes respect for different cultures and attitudes and fosters diversity in their team
  • Demonstrates an inquisitive nature with exceptional analytical, critical reasoning, and communication skills
  • Desire to understand the product/solutions and not just the numbers
  • Strong demonstrated use of SAP PS Module (or equivalent ERP), Excel and PowerPoint
