Salary & Benefits:£120,920 - £151,150 (depending on experience) base salary, plus annual personal bonus, 15% employer pension contribution (when you put in 6%), 4% flexible cash pot, private medical insurance, 30 days holiday plus bank holidays.

What would I focus on as an Engineering Lead?
Our Head of Java Development will be setting the strategic direction for the engineering teams to demonstrate thought leadership on modern technical delivery, across the entire lifecycle from idea to realisation of value.
You'll aim to increase Engineering efficiency, quality and release velocity while encouraging a "Fail Fast, Learn Faster" mentality within teams to experiment and test new ways of engineering.
We're looking for curious people with a real passion for, and commitment to growth and developing themselves and their teams with industry best practice, methods and tooling, and if necessary are able to work alongside engineers hands on in some instances.
- A career background within software engineering, having worked up to a principal Engineer within Java Development
- Experience of mentoring more junior software engineers through coaching, peer reviews of software and support with platform design
- Understanding of domain driven design techniques and experience of cloud native microservices software design
- Practical, handson experience of defining and implementing build pipelines on a cloud environment
- Experience of modern agile engineering practices: This includes knowledge of DevOps, quality engineering, systems thinking, service design, software vendor management, route to live and system design, software development lifecycle and automation knowledge.
- Deep understanding of platform architecture & a broad understanding of enterprise architecture considerations
- Experience developing and implementing technology strategies.
