    We are partnering with a leading data services and technology company at the heart of the UK's energy sector, seeking a Legal Counsel/Senior Legal Counsel to join their in-house legal team.

    The Role

    This is a unique opportunity for a commercial lawyer with experience in IT contracts to play a key role in a major transformation project that is crucial to the energy sector in the UK. As a key member of the team, you will provide commercial legal support across complex technology procurement and supplier negotiations and also support the business on everyday commercial matters. This is cutting-edge work.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Draft, review, and negotiate outsourcing, SaaS, and IT contracts (plus mixed general commercial contracts)
    • Support procurement processes, ensuring supplier agreements align with business needs
    • Provide strategic legal advice to senior stakeholders across finance, commercial, and procurement teams
    • Manage risk and compliance within large-scale transformation projects
    • Liaise with external legal counsel
    • Advise on data protection and regulatory issues where relevant

    Requirements

    • A qualified lawyer with 2-6 PQE
    • Proven experience in commercial contracts and IT law
    • Strong background in private practice or in-house
    • Ability to work autonomously, managing contracts and negotiations independently (with support from the Senior Counsel)
    • A pragmatic, commercial mindset with the ability to explain legal concepts clearly to stakeholders
