Job summary

Assistant Project Management role for Marine business unit within GE Power Conversion UK Ltd. This is an opportunity for a motivated individual to be part of a long-term programme team in the role of an Assistant Project Manager.

Responsibilities

• Support the existing programme team on two critical, long-term programmes for the Marine business unit concerned, to ensure that contractual obligations are met on time and to budget.
• Be a point of contact for the Customer on each project, building a strong and effective Customer relationship achieving a high level of customer satisfaction and serving as a basis for repeat business.
• Be a part of the co-ordination of a multi-disciplinary project team to deliver the project objectives in a structured and efficient manner.
• Interface with GE participating units and external suppliers as needed.
• Support the management of the commercial, technical and quality issues on the project.
• Ensure timely and accurate Customer billing and on time cash collection.
• Ensuring compliance with GE processes and procedures at all times.
• Support the registering, compiling and submitting extensions of time, extras to contract and other claims as appropriate.
• Support the effective reviews to control projects, check progress, manage cost, identify deviations from plan, detect risk and forecast future performance.

Qualifications

• Minimum degree level qualification in project management, business or engineering qualification.
• Good understanding of project finances enabling effective control of billing, costs and internal trading.

• Team player, who can establish effective working relationships at all levels, motivate the project team to deliver, and provide support when the project encounters obstacles.
• Must be dedicated, show high sense of commitment and responsibility and an effective decision maker.

Desired requirements

• Working towards professional status and/or formal qualification in a body related to Project Management or Quantity Surveying
• Knowledge of Marine / Naval Markets
