Head of Data Operations:

Data Idols are excited to be working with one of the most successful Football Clubs in UK history, to support in the recruitment of a Head of Data Operations.

As a club they have embarked on an ambitious journey to revolutionise the use of data within modern football.

The Opportunity:

Longer term, you will be managing a team of Data Engineers who collaborate across the football infrastructure.

As well as that, you will act as the head of a federated data model in which departments can produce and consume data with minimum amount of governance and the maximum amount of flexibility.

And the role is expected to cover ML Engineering also in the long term.

Skills and Experience:

Extensive experience designing and building localised data infrastructure in a federated model of data production and consumption as a Data Engineer
Excellent skills in building, managing, and maintaining data pipelines and data infrastructure as a Data Engineer
Experience creating and deploying automated data validation methods
Good understanding and practical experience of data security and governance principles.
Excellent SQL and Data Engineering skills

In an ideal world you will also have:

Experience of implementing a data mesh
Experience developing APIs for data access as a Data Engineer
Experience with databases on cloud architecture
Experience building and maintaining ML pipelines as part of an integrated and seamless data operation
