An opportunity has arisen to join the Procurement team as a Buyer based at either Bristol or Castle Donington supporting our Electricity Distribution business.
The team are part of National Grid's Global Procurement function. With a spend of c.£3 billion per annum in the UK, we are a team of 150 talented professionals with a clear mission:
to enable a clean, fair, and affordable energy future through commercial, responsible, and innovative supply chain leadership.
The Procurement Team is responsible for developing strategies and awarding contracts across all business activities of National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED).
The successful applicant will work within a professional team of Buyers reporting to a Senior Buyer and will be responsible for a portfolio of category areas and contracts.

Main Responsibilities
- Developing Category and Contracting strategy with the users to deliver products and services that support business objectives
- Ownership and delivery of endtoend sourcing events within a portfolio.
- Scoping, delivering and executing robust fit for purpose contractual agreements.
- Facilitating regular contract review meetings with Suppliers to manage the ongoing contract requirements and identify opportunities to add further value
- Maintaining and updating the Contract Management software system to deliver quality management reports
We are looking for people who have the following attributes:
- Comprehensive experience in leading development of category or sourcing strategies, management of tendering events.
- Can confidently communicate, engage, and build strong working relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Have effective project management skills.
- Can collate and organise data, analyse commercial issues and bring insight to the detail of costs and contracts.
- Can navigate their own way through a complex organisation and effectively solve problems.
- Are proactive with a positive attitude and desire to learn.
- Demonstrate role model behaviours by evidencing 'finding a better way', 'doing the right thing' and 'making it happen' values.
- Have a passion for enabling an affordable net zero and are motivated to make a difference.
- Ability and willingness to travel across various NGED sites
- Achievement of a CIPS qualification or working towards is advantageous or a willingness to undertake the required qualification
