Job Purpose:
The role of Dispatcher exists primarily to dispatch first response technicians/engineers to deal with fault situations. In addition the role facilitates the provision of accurate and timely fault information for internal and external customers.
Principal Accountabilities:
Financial:
Keep overtime expenditure to minimum levels.
Customer:
Number of complaints against Dispatch activities.
Network positions within IIP Customer Satisfaction survey.
No of Single Premise no supply calls attended to within EGS1 time.
Telephone response in Dispatch
TCS Customer information accuracy.
Attendance to public safety calls.
Process:
Average time to resource incidents.
Time to site for DST with customers off supply.
People:
Active participation in Coaching for Performance sessions with your Line Manager.
Attendance at monthly Face 2 Face Briefings.
Management of days lost through sickness.
Management of days lost through accidents.
Management of non-lost time accidents.
Nature and Scope
Utilisation of the available resource to deliver a high class customer service that restores electricity supplies in a safe and timely manner.
Provision of the highest quality customer information that is useful to both internal customers and external customer through the Customer Information Centre.
To work as part of a team to prioritise and utilise resources effectively to enable the restoration of customer supplies.
Network Operations operates 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year, pattern working in full and part shift positions is a requirement of the role.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
Basic understanding of the electricity distribution network
Comprehension of Company Policies and Procedures.
Comprehension of Regulatory Policies and Procedures.
Ability to work in a pressured environment as part of a highly focused team.
Good level PC literacy, with the ability to learn and use a variety of systems with fast and accurate keyboard skills.
Professional and confident telephone manner.
Flexible attitude to work and working hours.
Self motivated, with a strong drive to succeed.
Ability to build good working relationships with other staff and other teams within UKPN and external partners
Health & Safety Responsibilities
Employees need to be aware that for some craft and operational roles that work at height, or use fall arrest devices, there is an upper weight limit of 116Kg due to maximum safe working load of the safety equipment that is used.
