The Neurodevelopmental Specialist Service (NeSS) brings together our previous adult autism and adult attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) services into one combined service.


We provide:

- diagnostic assessments for autism and ADHD
- support to understand the conditions
- short-term support for issues related to autism or ADHD
- medication to treat ADHD, which will then be managed by your GP
- advice and signposting to additional support including mental health services if needed

This service has been live since April 2021, and we are now looking to further recruit. We are a busy team and forward looking and welcome new ideas and promote opportunities for service development.

This is a fulfilling role with excellent clinical support in the team and directorate


You will be a integral part of the therapeutic pathway and Psychology team, assessing referrals for appropriateness, supporting assistant Psychologists, delivering groups as required, supervision and training of staff and other tasks as required within this multi disciplinary team.

To provide a clinical psychology service to adults with neurodevelopmental conditions (primarily autism
and ADHD) including diagnostic assessment, neuropsychological assessment, psychological
interventions, consultation, research and service evaluation.
To provide teaching and training to professional colleagues in awareness, identification, assessment
and support of neurodevelopmental conditions in adults.
To provide clinical supervision to trainee and Assistant Psychologists as delegated by the Lead
Consultant Clinical Psychologist and continue to develop highly specialist clinical and professional
skills.

The post is managed under the Integrated Specialist Services Directorate and line and professionally
managed within the intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Service.
The post holder will be an integral member of the Neurodevelopmental Specialist Service (NeSS),
which is a community-based service, and work alongside the service manager to develop and shape
the delivery of high-quality assessment and interventions to adults with neurodevelopmental disorders.
Psychologists within NeSS also form part of a wider network with the Clinical Psychology Service
within the Intellectual and Developmental Service, and more broadly psychologists within the Trust.
The post holder is also expected to act as an ambassador for the organisation and promote its work
through presenting and publishing both locally, nationally and internationally.
