Description

We are looking for a dynamic and innovative individual to scope and enhance Clinical Education in Ultrasound throughout Frimley ICS.


The postholder will work as part of the senior team in Radiology at Frimley Health Foundation Trust, reporting to the Chief of Service (Radiology) and Radiology Service Manager.

They will work predominantly in Frimley ICS, to assist in the development of consistent and expanded provision of U/S education in line with the local Imaging Network's strategy.

The postholder will be required to provide practical and theoretical training. They will develop new programmes and widen access to Sonography roles through the development of innovative training pathways.


The job has these key elements:

  • Develop an Education and Training Strategy, and Plan for Ultrasound for Frimley Health & Care System, responding to the increasing need for ultrasound training for a diverse group of healthcare professionals
  • Expand the supply of staff by developing new routes into Sonography and supporting career development and advancing practice.
  • Building strategic partnerships with HEIs to support the development of new teaching methods and education programmes.
  • Coordinate, develop and deliver ultrasound training and education.
  • Develop and deliver a preceptorship for radiographers who have trained in Sonography overseas and enable them to gain necessary competencies to work autonomously in U/S in the NHS.
  • Ensure that national/regional funding to support U/S education is optimised and leverage support for this programme of work from strategic partners (e.g. Health Education England, Imaging Academy).
