Mon Sat, incl. weekends and some evenings

Based:
Salisbury (Stephenson Road) with travel to other shops in Salisbury and Dorset as required


Role outline


With 11 shops (2 online) your main responsibility will be to cover for shop managers and shop assistants as required, taking on these full responsibilities.

In this role you will optimise retail income by ensuring that all of Charity Retails shops and the warehouse are effectively supervised to a high standard following clear direction from the Senior team (mainly the Retail Area Manager).


Charity retail shops are centred around the wider local community with their own objectives; developing skills, knowledge, awareness, and confidence, which in turn focuses on our primary aim of raising vital funds to help end the need for foodbanks in the UK.


Additionally, you will be responsible for the relieving the duties of the Retail Area Manager and the Health & Safety/Facilities manager in times of absence.

This role requires you to adapt to change at short notice, be very flexible, positive, confident, and dynamic in your approach.


Responsibilities

  • When required to cover a shop, you will manage the day to day running, ensuring effective stock management and merchandising, resulting in sales targets being met.
  • Empower and encourage staff and volunteers in whichever shop you are covering to follow TTCR policies and procedures to drive sales, which in turn will help raise vital funds that will help people living in crisis.
  • Develop close business relationships with the rest of the shop manager team delivering comprehensive handover reports ensuring that other staff are wellbriefed and reporting regularly to the Retail Area Manager.
  • Manage volunteers (including supported volunteers) in the shops you are covering, providing them with a stimulating and supportive environment, referring promptly any issues and concerns to the Volunteer Coordinator.
  • Supervision of the shop management staff and assistants when required.
  • Carry out regular audits and shop inspections as required.
  • Carry out regular health and safety risk assessments according to TTCR policies, reporting any concerns to the Health & Safety & Facilities Coordinator.
  • Administrative relief duties to include (but not exclusively) supervising the staff rota and Smartlog
  • Maintain and develop good channels of communication and collaborative working with colleagues in all the shops and the logistics team as well as local communities and organisations
  • Ensure any safeguarding issues are dealt with confidently, professionally, and promptly, reporting them to the TTCR Safeguarding Lead
  • Develop a culture of innovation, resourcefulness, and best practice to make the best use of your time and skills in the retail team.
  • Promote collaborative working across the retail team and with other teams across the Trussell Trust.
