Job description -
Requirement for a Capital Development Project Manager working within E&F, a shared facility for both HCT and HPFT trusts.
Ideally, but not essential, experience of working on mental health projects.
Must have an understanding of reading floor plans, works programmes, method statements and cost reports.
Must have own car and be prepared to complete site visits once the construction works commence, as well as attend site pre start, progress and handover meetings

  • To manage Capital Projects for both Trusts HCT and HPFT as identified and allocated by the Head of Capital Development
  • To manage allocated capital projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and to budget
  • Upon approval of allocated capital projects, in conjunction with the named Service Manager (if applicable) to be responsible for the completion of the project to agreed time and cost.
  • To liaise with relevant departments and arrange all necessary interior design and furniture purchase, moving of operational units to completed projects, and cleaning of premises prior to occupation
  • Construct a project plan with relevant timings and keep the Trust advised on possible time overruns and risks that may cause the project to be late or over cost
  • In conjunction with the supervising officer to authorise any changes of specification or works as may be required to ensure satisfactory completion of the project
  • Prepare MEP designs for major and minor capital works in accordance with HTM, HBN, British Standards, all current legislation and Trust Policies and Procedures.
  • Assist with the formulation, prioritisation and programming of capital, backlog maintenance and other new Works schemes
  • Project management of schemes from inception to completion, in accordance with JCT, NEC, M&E MF/1 Forms of Contract and NHS contract guidance
  • To be responsible and accountable for the efficient and effective planning of allocated capital works projects and will supervise inhouse resource, external Consultants and Contractors in the successful delivery of these projects.
  • To be responsible for allocated capital projects, to ensure that the work is carried out to clients satisfaction, within budget and on time
  • To identify the nature of the work required in consultation with senior clinical and nonclinical managers, as well as external capital works contractors
  • To lead project teams fulfilling both the project manager and technical project manager roles from inception to completion in accordance with Health Board policy and procedures including the more specific capital procedures/guidance notes and standing financialinstructions.
  • On certain large projects the post holder will form part of a project team providing Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health (MEP) guidance in accordance with best practice estate guidance.
  • To provide MEP Performance Specification Briefings to external Developers who provide lease facilities to multiuser organisations including Health Board Departments and Staff
