St.

George's Crypt is Christian Charity in the city of Leeds providing shelter and support and working with the homeless, the vulnerable and those suffering from addiction.

Our aim is to provide a safe environment with physical, emotional, and religious support for those who suffered abuse, suffer from addition or who are homeless.


About Our Employees:


The twin objectives of St George's Crypt are to pursue the promotion of Christian evangelism and relieve hardship among disadvantaged people.

Therefore, it is key for the Head of Retail to be pursuing this throughout the whole of their job role and in their personal life.

This will usually be evidenced by current involvement in the life of a Christian community.


Job Purpose:


Working with the Deputy CEO to develop and implement a retail strategy to supplement charity income and to further the presence and impact of the charity through high street locations.


Key Job Role Responsibilities and Main Tasks:

Retail Responsibilities


Ø Ensure the smooth running of the day-to-day operation of the retail shops through liaising with the Charity Shop Supervisor.

Ø Ensure the safe opening up and securing of premises.

Ø Ensure the attractiveness, cleanliness, and effective layout of all premises, ensuring suitable displays, merchandising and window-dressing standards.

Ø Ensure stock management and rotation across all sites to enhance sales and effective product distribution across all locations.

Ø Maximise Gift Aid income from donated goods., managed by Kpi's.

Ø Designing and implement procedures and processes for the efficient and effective operation of the Shop.

Ø Work closely with the Crypt and provide clothing etc. as requested for clients.

Ø Work with and assist the logistics manager with organising collections and deliveries.

Ø Selling donated goods through our retail shops and maximising the income

Ø Overseeing the operation of SGC Retail.


Ø Putting systems in place to ensure stock date is identified and is rotated on a regular basis and to ensure the smooth running of the Charity's Shop whilst maintaining excellent customer service for all customers.

Ø Maximising the income of SGC through retail shops and any online sales.

Ø Developing external relationships with the public and maximise donations of clothing, furniture and bric-a-brac.

Ø Forecasting, planning, and implementing effective collection strategies by category and channel to maximise revenue and margin.

Ø Recruiting, developing and mentoring employees and volunteers from within the charity and outside agencies.


Management Responsibilities


Ø Prepare an annual budget to be presented to the trustees, following agreement of the retail budget prepare a retail plan showing clear objective of the retail business.

Ø Undertake regular monthly reviews with direct reports, comparing actual performance against agreed objectives.

Ø Conduct Annual Performance Reviews, including Personal Development Plans, for each direct report.


Reporting
Ø Provide performance and statistical information monthly.

Ø Compile monthly report detailing Shop activity.

Ø Monitor and maintain statistical information relating to activity and performance and preparing reports.


Ø Monitor and be accountable for sales and category performance, as well as ensure that the team are aware of and engaged in the shop's financial performance.


Supervisory and HR responsibilities


Ø Oversee the induction, training, appraisal and formal supervision and rotation of staff, volunteers to always provide sufficient cover to all aspects of the business - including ensuring covering weekends as needed.

Ø Consistently assess the skills and potential of the volunteer team and delegate accordingly.

Ø Maintain an empowered, motivated, and engaged team.


Ø Foster a creative and entrepreneurial shop environment where team members seek to maximise income in new and innovative ways both within the shop and through a variety of channels such as eBay and community events.


Ø Inspire the team to provide a great customer and donor experience, which enables SGC to attract new supporters every day.

Ø Ensure that feedback, including complaints is responded to within the agreed timeframes.


Ø Develop and maintain a positive working environment for staff and volunteers, building a strong team that feels inspired, motivated, enabled and empowered.


Ø Assist clients of the Charity or other training agencies to gain appropriate work experience in the shop that will help them obtain accredited qualifications.


Financial Responsibilities
Ø To work within the designated financial limits and adhere to the financial policy of the Charity.

Ø Make accurate recordings of all transactions.

Ø To work towards agreed sales targets.


Relationship Building and Communication
Ø Liaise with other agencies and organisations as appropriate.
