Quest Search & Selection are currently partnering with this This FMCG retailer who is looking to recruit an Assistant Buyer to manage and develop the allocated category in line with corporate policy.

This is an excited role for someone with experience in a commercial environment that is looking to progress in their buying career


The roles and responsibilities of this Assistant Buyer role: -

  • Analyse the budgeted sales, gross margin, and margin rate for the categories.
  • Ensure the company pricing policy is maintained within the retail prices for categories.
  • Create promotional activity within the categories and in line with the company promotional strategy.
  • To negotiate additional sales such as overriding discounts and advertising support to predetermined budgets.
  • Liaise with suppliers to expedite deliveries and resolve any issues relating to delivery.
  • Review the monthly performance and provide report based on results.
  • Ensure store queries relevant to the allocated categories, are dealt with in a timely and complete manner
**To be successful in this Assistant Buyer role: - **- Buying experience and expertise typically gained over a period of at least 1-2 years.

  • Experience in food retail (desirable but not essential).
  • Exceptional commercial acumen.
  • Has a strong analytical skills and process minded.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
