The position of Senior Wagtail Developer represents a fantastic opportunity to lead the Wagtail development and take the charity's implementation of the Wagtail CMS to a new level.

The Senior Wagtail Developer also provides mentoring and support to other developers acting as an escalation point for any knowledge gaps or advice required.

This in turn helps ensure the quality of the code, and therefore the final product, by providing seniorlevel oversight and support projects undertaken by the development team.

The Senior Wagtail Developer also plays a pivotal role in supporting the Head of Digital Development in the engineering, upkeep and evolution of critical services, systems, environments & processes.


About the Team

This is a Senior Developer role in the Digital Development Team which sits within the Technology Group under Finance & Resources.

The Finance & Resources Directorate takes the lead on the Charity's culture and the wellbeing of our staff, as well as statutory compliance and value-added delivery and business partnering across the Charity in support of our Purpose and Strategy.

The directorateis made up of Technology plus 3 other teams:
People, Culture & Transformation, Finance and Corporate Services.

About You

  • At least 3 years' experience working in Django and Python (Wagtail) development
  • Previous experience as a lead or senior developer within a team
  • Full stack development skills: front and back end, Wagtail Sass/Less/CSS, , Python, MySQL/Postgres, HTML
  • Knowledge of Git version control and tools such as GitLab
  • Experience and knowledge of DevOps environments, cloud platforms such as AWS, CI/CD pipelines and tooling and release management best practices
  • High level knowledge of Internet and TCP/IP services
  • High level knowledge of Algorithms and Data Structures
  • Experience working with Agile and Scrum methodologies
  • Ability to prioritise, while work across multiple projects at the same time with mínimal supervision
  • Further education in a Computer Science related discipline

Our approach to hybrid working

This role is based in our Central London office (WC1N, opposite Russell Square underground) with a minimum of 2 days working in the offices and the option to work remotely up to three days a week.
