Job Description:

Summary


The Mechanical Assembler will complete the building of a customer project, meeting industry and BW Labeling standards, from the start of the assembly through finalization.

Work with the Engineering team to assist in solving assembly or performance issues and verify that the machine build meets all customer requirements.

The end goal in this position is to reach a level of experience and knowledge to support customer demonstrations and final acceptance testing.

Will engage in the business by actively participating in company events, training, education and Lean Manufacturing. Will strive to live BW Labeling's "people centric" culture and lead by example.


RESPONSIBILITES

  • Build a machine to its completion using accepted industry and Accraply standards with efficient and effective use of time. Accurately and systematically troubleshoot during the machine build and set up to determine the cause of the problem and present or implement workable solutions.
  • Use accepted safety procedures and precautions in the process of machine building, testing or part fabrication.
  • Communicate progress daily with your direct Leader.
  • Assist with the unloading and loading of machines and goods.
  • Other duties as requested by your direct Leader.
  • Mentor, coach and oversee the work of the apprentices within the manufacturing team.
  • Work the time necessary to meet the needs of the business and advise direct Leader if any overtime is required.
  • Keep production area and individual area clean, neat and organized to allow efficient production.
  • Maintain a 'tour ready' appearance in the production area.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Education

  • Completion of a recognized engineering apprenticeship

Experience:


  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in machine building
  • Experience in operation of machine tools; namely milling machines and lathers
  • Experience in the use of overhead cranes and slinging machinery
  • Forklift Truck License is desired but not essential.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to read and understand drawings and build specifications.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail.
  • Ability to complete tasks with limited supervision on a timely basis.
  • Ability to trouble shoot and provide workable solutions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Takes responsibility for own actions with emphasis on attendance, punctuality and appearance.
  • Able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Willingness to accept a challenge and inclined to take initiative.
