We are looking for Specialists Screening Practitioners to join our team at the West London Bowel Cancer Screening Centre. Based at Charing Cross Hospital we are a specialist team who deliver bowel cancer screening services, across 4 sites.

As a specialist screening practitioner your role would be key in the co-ordination and provision of care to individuals participating in this national programme.


You will be involved in assessing individuals in nurse led clinics, making decisions based on the outcomes of your assessment and planning their bowel cancer screening journey.


You will act as the individuals' advocate, providing information and support, empowering them and their family to make informed choices and decisions regarding their screening care, treatment and future participation in the screening programme.

You will need to have 2 years post registration experience in colorectal, gastroenterology or oncology specialties


The role of the Specialist Screening Practitioner (SSP) was developed to meet the needs of individuals who are screened within the NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme (BCSP).

The SSP is responsible for the management of FITt positive assessment clinics, supporting colonoscopy and arranging telephone clinics as well as various clinics based on selected cases.


The post holder will work within the BCSP at West London Bowel Cancer Screening Centre (WLBCSC) located cross site at Imperial Hospital and West Middlesex Hospital.

This role is pivotal in ensuring patients seen at the screening centre progress along their pathway smoothly and requires collaborative working with the BCSP Team.

The post holder will act as the patient's advocate, supporting informed choice at all stages of the screening programme.
