Support Assistant needed in HerefordUp to 19.5 hours a week
Based in the family home in Belmont, Hereford paid £11 per hour.
Role is supporting a visually impaired lady in her late thirties with tasks including shopping, going for walks, jobs, and hobbies around the home, and supporting to attend toddler groups with her young daughter.
Must have full UK driving licence and own car and be willing to transport working guide dog.
Previous guiding experience is not necessary but must be willing to accept direction and/or undergo sighted guide training.
Ability to follow direction, and a sense of humour are essential, and you must also be able to walk long distances regularly.

About Me
I am a lady in my late thirties, and I live in Belmont, Hereford with my husband and our daughter.
Although you must be comfortable around young children, the role does not entail being an additional carer for my daughter and it is extremely important to me that this boundary is not crossed.
Job details
- Housekeeping_
- Cleaning of rooms, vacuuming, dusting, laundry, etc.
- Shopping_
- You would be helping me with shopping and other associated tasks such as typing out cooking instructions and expiry dates.
- Preparation and cooking of some meals_
- You do not have to be a fantastic cook. You would need to wash up and leave the kitchen clean & tidy afterwards paying particular attention to putting everything back in their original place.
- Hobbies and social activities_
- Supporting me to continue doing what I enjoy. Assisting me to attend various craft activities and also some toddler and parent groups whilst remaining respectful of my role as parent.
- Supporting me to go on regular long walks with my daughter and dog, so you must have a reasonable level of fitness.
- Supporting me at various events and day's out_
- To assist with any personal care needs such as obtaining drinks and refreshments and assistance to facilities.
- Other small jobs_
About You
You will need basic maths and literacy knowledge; basic IT skills will also be an advantage.
Previous experience of similar work is desirable but not essential, as I will make sure you get the training you need including sighted guide.
An interest in crafting is also desirable but again not essential.
You must be able to understand the importance of confidentiality, be good at following instructions, be patient, calm, be a good communicator and have a good sense of humour.
Teamwork is important as well as being able to work on your own initiative and have some flexibility to allow for holiday or sickness cover.
You will need to be a car driver/owner and be happy to transport a working guide dog in your vehicle.
About Direct Payments
Direct payments are available from Local Authorities for people who have a care and support plan in place following a social care assessment.
I should stress that I will be your employer and have full responsibility for recruitment, contracts, supervision, pay, training etc.
Salary:
This is a flat rate of pay that takes account of unsociable hours and weekend working.
Hours:
These are the mínimally contracted hours.
If I require additional support at other times I will try to give as much notice as possible, an ability to be flexible would be an advantage.
