Do you have knowledge of the energy and renewables sector?

If so this could be the role for you. an opportunity to join a large European Utility company to specialise in offshore wind projects throughout Ireland. This role can be based in Dublin or Kilkenny.


About the role

  • Execution of the growth strategy through origination of new development opportunities within offshore wind in Ireland and potentially globally
  • Dynamically develop close contacts with existing and potential partners and other relevant parties in the offshore wind sector
  • Negotiate partnership setups, scope and responsibility, and governance of collaboration structures (Shareholders Agreement, Management Services Agreement, Development Services Agreement, Joint Bidding Agreement etc.)
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with joint venture partners ensuring RWE Renewable's position is optimised whilst mitigating risks to the business
  • Support and potentially lead Offshore development activities, budgeting, strategy and board approval processes (partnering, bidding, Final Investment Decision/Financial Close)
  • Influence the market/partners in early phase discussions, providing various solutions (including offshore grid strategies and hybrid routes to market) in order to create favourable opportunities in offshore wind tenders
  • Assess attractiveness of offshore opportunities and provide market intelligence and data to support investment decisions
  • Analyse key competitors and their strategy
  • Provide general commercial expertise within the offshore department as issues arise across the portfolio
  • Engage and align with internal stakeholders, departments and the respective project leads and teams
  • Assist with the representation of RWE Renewables at local and regional stakeholder events, in networks and towards respective authorities
  • Work closely with other RWE subsidiaries on the development of joint business cases

About You

  • Experienced commercial professional with experience in the energy sector in commercial, investment management or business development roles
  • Excellent commercial experience, combined with market analysis, program management and leadership skills
  • Experience in successful management of programme and budgets and reporting activities to senior executive and Board level
  • Knowledge of Ireland energy market and regulatory regime
  • Ability to influence markets, potential partners and other stakeholders in order to create opportunities advantageous to RWE Renewables
  • Capable to negotiate with a range of potential partners, including development partners; experience of structuring, negotiating and/or managing joint ventures (SHAs, MSDs etc) an advantage
  • Strategic thinker but also drill down to the detail at an individual project level
  • Ability to manage own performance, with a significant focus on delivery and an ability to balance a varied and challenging workload, whilst producing high quality results in demanding timeframes
  • Effective communication skills across a wide range of stakeholders, both internally (to board level) and externally, in multiple jurisdictions
