Youth Engagement Lead Coach Job Description
Title of Role:
Youth Engagement Lead Coach
Responsible to:
Head of Community, Sports Coaching and Development
Salary:
£25,000 - £26,600 dependant on experiences and qualifications
Work based benefits:
Company laptop, Birthday off as annual leave, 28 days holiday (including bank holidays) a supportive and developmental staff development programme which includes access to industry recognised qualifications and mileage support.
Work pattern: 37.5 hours a week including evenings, with possible weekend work being involved, 52 weeks a year based across multiple sites in Kent.
JOB PURPOSE
To be a key member of the Community Coaching team and deliver quality community based provisions across the organisations Community Cornerstone.
This may involve you leading sports sessions but utilising the power of sport to engage with young people in more difficult to reach communities.
You will be focused on providing opportunities for social interaction and the development of good communication, encouraging participation in small group activities and sports sessions.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Delivering on community based projects that put young people at the heart of the work we do and ensure they are engaging in appropriate activities
- Understand the key objectives of the projects and sessions and ensure all objectives are targeted for key stakeholders funding requirements.
- Lead and develop a coaching team to understand key objectives of the programmes
- Organising coaching activities at venues including working alongside other coaches and external partners at the venues.
- Delivery within educational settings to upskill those participating on our programmes with relevant qualifications
- Providing mentoring support to the young people and sign posting to other support mechanisms
- Having a good understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures
- Taking payments on sites and coordinating these with head office if required
- You will also be expected to attend events that will help to develop the profile of Sports Connect across the county of Kent and throughout the South-East region.
- Regularly attend Sports Connect Team Meetings as requested by The Directors or Senior Lead Team
- Follow all session delivery processes
- Adhere to the company policies and processes
- Abide by the coaches code of conduct
- Undertake internal and external continuing professional development
- Any other duties requested by The Directors and Head of Community and Sports Development, or Senior Lead Team.

Safeguarding
- A Sports Connect DBS will be carried out if offered the role
- A DBS no older than 3 months
Education, qualifications, training and work experience.
- NGB Level 2 Sports Coaching Qualification
- Minimum of two years' experience of community sports coaching
- Up to date safeguarding
- First Aid qualification
- Enhanced DBS
- Mentoring qualifications
- Sports project management experience
- NGB Level 3 Sports Coaching Qualification
Knowledge, skills and experience.
- Experience in Youth Engagement work in the community
- Sports specific coaching
- Delivery of sports activities in the community
- Ability to motivate disengaged members of the community
- Awareness of community needs
- An understanding of the role of local authorities' role in community safety and engagement
- Delivery of programmes within educational settings
Project Delivery
- Organising/leading programmes of community based activities
- Organising programmes of sports based activities
- Leading on Sports Project Management
Communication, Evaluation, Monitoring & Reporting
- Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
- Computer literate
- Able to deliver sports based activities in a variety and range of environments
- Able to deliver across ability ranges

- Knowledge of MS Office and Google Drive
Other
- Willing to undertake all other mandatory training as required by the Company.
- Have access to own transport and be able to travel to multiple venues
- Full UK drivers licence
