The George Institute for Global Health in the United Kingdom (TGI UK), working in partnership with Imperial College London (Imperial), is seeking a high-calibre established or rapidly emerging academic researcher to help establish and coordinate a programme of work on multimorbidity (the coexistence of multiple medical conditions).

This will include a senior role in the Imperial Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) Multimorbidity Theme, which is led by TGI-UK in partnership with the Imperial Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics.

Additionally, it will include a senior role in the TGI-Global programme on multimorbidity in low-income and middle-income countries (LMIC) and underserved populations in high-income countries (HIC).


Founded over 20 years ago in Australia, and now with centres also in China, India and the UK, the mission of The George Institute for Global Health is to improve the health of millions of people worldwide by finding better treatments for the world's biggest health problems; by transforming primary health care to support better health for more people; and by harnessing the power of governments, markets and communities to improve population health.

In 2020 Imperial and The George Institute embarked on a new partnership to drive the development and evaluation of innovative and sustainable strategies to prevent and treat the largest global health problems.

Following a successful initial collaboration, a new five-year commitment has been agreed.


As a Chair or reader in chronic and complex diseases, you will lead and grow the nascent multimorbidity programme at TGI UK, as well as having a major role in related TGI initiatives worldwide.

Additionally, you will have a leadership role in the development of Imperial's emerging program of research on multimorbidity.

As a senior member of the TGI UK management team, you will contribute more broadly to the growth and development of TGI UK and its partnership with Imperial.

Teaching and research are considered an integral part of the post. The post will involve the usual administrative duties associated with a busy academic and research-active environment.

You will also be expected to work with external collaborators across the world, to address the challenge of preventing and managing multimorbidity.

You will be based primarily in London but will work closely with staff in TGI's offices in Australia, India and China, as well as staff across relevant Faculties and Departments at Imperial.
