Dual Location - based at home and in our London office. With the expectation of on average twice per week in the office / 4 to 6 times per month in the office.

London or Dual Location - £71,000 to £79,000

National - £67,500 to £75,500


About the roles available

  • Head of People and Culture - Fundraising, Marketing and Innovation (including Chief Executive Office) This head of role will provide strategic people leadership support to one of our largest directorates with 6 different divisions; legacies, brand & marketing, corporate partnerships & philanthropy, innovation, customer experience and relationship fundraising, challenge events & supporter care.
  • Head of People and Culture - Services and Strategy. This head of role will provide strategic people leadership support for two of our directorates; Services and Strategy. Operational areas that are included are Direct Services, UK Partnerships (providing indirect services), insight and performance, strategy development & delivery and our corporate change portfolio.


Both of these roles will provide senior business partnering and people leadership support and challenge to the executive board member(s) of the relevant area.

You will lead your people and culture partners to co-develop and deliver a data-driven, commercial, future focussed people plan that is aligned to the strategy for your area(s) working with the HR centre of excellences and wider stakeholders where necessary.


Alongside the HR Director, these roles will also be critical to supporting the development of the Macmillan HR People Plan by sharing and evidencing organisational people themes, insights and requirements gathered through internal awareness and external knowledge and experience.

You will also be able to influence change and make a real difference to our people by being members of our key people decision making groups and authorising boards.


Why now and why us?

We have recently been through a design led change and are due to launch a new People and Culture function within our HR division, this merges key capability and requirements from the HR Business Partnering, Organisational Design and EDI functions.

These teams have delivered brilliantly for our people during the last 2 years, but now is the time to build a function fit for what our people and leadership teams need for the future.


Key areas of focus will be:

  • Driving an inclusive organisation and fostering an organisation where everyone feels safe and able to be themselves in order for them to thrive and succeed.
  • Driving Organisational Effectiveness through brilliant business savvy OD&D activity
  • Developing our people analytical capability and using this to influence change and people activity prioritisation.

About you

  • We are looking for a senior people leader who can bring expert advice, challenge and influence based on experience and capability to our senior leadership team and HR division.
  • You will have been involved in strategic people led decision making and have been able to influence in a challenging environment.
  • You will be a values based inclusive leader, and one that can coach and develop individuals both directly and indirectly line manages by you.
  • You will have an active external network and enjoy keeping up to date with external people themes and insights.
  • You will be comfortable working naturally with OD&D activity and be able to quickly build stories around data and insights with impact.
