Successful company in High Wycombe are recruiting for a part qualified accountant to report to the Financial Controller and join a team of 3 in the finance department.

The successful applicant will be analysing commercial data, ensuring spend is in linewith budget whilst also looking at ways of reducing expenditure across the company.

In addition, there will be much exposure to 'month end' where assistance will be required to ensure the team fulfils all deadlines set.


Key Responsibilities for the Assistant Accountant include

  • Monthly and annual review of Sales margins
  • P&L review at both brand level and total company
  • Review of the monthly accruals / provisions ensuring these are adequate
  • Overheads review comparing actual with budget and prior year at a cost centre level
  • Cash flow interrogation with emphasis on the effect on working capital
  • Updating and distributing the sales capture file at both gross / net sales and volume at customer level


  • PAYE Settlement Agreement

  • Calculating the annual payment, ensuring that all irregular or impracticable expenses of benefits for our employees are captured accordingly
  • Long Term Agreements / Retro Rebates
  • Calculation of the rebates due per customer as part of the month end process
  • Sales promotions and long term agreements analysis
  • Support the yearend audit process
  • Identify and drive improvements in processes and systems to add value and seek efficiencies, identifying and mitigating risk
  • Creating and preparing the monthly creditors report in liaison with the Financial Accountant
  • Analysing and evaluating ways to reduce costs
  • Providing timely and relevant insights to the Financial Controller / Senior Management Team as and when required
  • Providing cover when colleagues are away from the business
  • Willingness to assist in month end to ensure the team reports on time
  • Any adhoc / project work as and when required
