About the Role:


In this role you will focus on our Swiss Re Zurich (SRZ) legal entity statutory results, which are produced to be shared with FINMA (Swiss regulator).


Key responsibilities include:


  • Actuarial review and analysis of the reserve calculations and results; understanding, challenging and explaining changes over time
  • Writing statutory reserve reports and the materials for the quarterly Swiss Statutory Reserving Committee
  • Reviewing statutory margins of L&H business, including the identification of appropriate management actions to optimise the capital position
  • Understanding differences between L&H Swiss statutory reserves and the best estimate of technical provisions reported under Swiss Solvency Test (SST)
  • Support SRZ and Swiss Re Group initiatives, including new large transactions both before and after deals are signed and reported, as well as supporting transfer pricing calculations of large transactions
  • Operationalizing changes to approach/methodology, including partnering with regional Valuation teams to make these changes happen
  • Supporting L&H ́s best estimate of technical provisions reported under SST, including review and signoff

About you:


  • Bringing strong interpersonal and communication skills including presenting to senior audiences, you will thrive in this role.

Must haves:


  • You are a qualified actuary with good technical knowledge of L&H reinsurance reporting and 35 years of postqualification experience
  • You are familiar with the range of L&H insurance products and reinsurance structures written globally
  • You are able to build effective working relationships with individuals based around the world
  • You are capable of handling multiple priorities striking the right balance between detail and pragmatism. You possess the ability to work under time pressure during the peak yearend reporting period.
  • You are fluent in English, both oral and written.
  • As an independent thinker, you are willing to form and defend your own views on technical topics

Nice to haves:


  • Specific knowledge of business written into Swiss Re Zurich, Swiss statutory reporting requirements, Swiss Solvency Test and IFRS would be an advantage
  • Proficiency in German would be advantageous
