    Inventory and Resource Allocation Lead

    Birmingham Business Park - on site

    Overview:

    Taking charge of the Driver Resource function, you will ensure seamless onboarding and ongoing support for all drivers. Utilizing expert data analysis, inventory management, and advanced Excel skills to optimise stock levels, enhance reporting, and drive efficiencies across business operations.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Inventory & Resource Management

    • Maintain and manage stock levels to align with business needs, ensuring all drivers have the necessary tools and resources.
    • Oversee the entire Driver stock ordering process across operations, tracking procurement and distribution with precision.
    • Forecast stock requirements by collaborating with Resourcing, HR, IT, Finance, Driver Admin, and Operations.
    • Manage the lifecycle of driver resources, including allocation, returns, and replacements.
    • Ensure compliance and accuracy in trade plate allocation and driver kit management.
    • Oversee core systems, including Manpack, MIB, trackers, Uniform, Shell & BP portals, ensuring up-to-date and accurate data.

    Data Analysis & Reporting

    • Develop and maintain key business reports (daily, weekly, monthly, and annual) to inform strategic decision-making.
    • Analyse trends in driver resource utilisation, stock levels, and financial efficiency to drive improvements.
    • Utilise advanced Excel functions, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and automation, to streamline data processing and reporting.
    • Ensure all data-driven insights lead to operational efficiencies and cost-saving opportunities.

    Leadership & Stakeholder Management

    • Lead and develop a team of Driver Resource Coordinators, fostering a high-performance culture.
    • Build strong relationships across operational teams, ensuring alignment in resource planning and inventory management.
    • Set clear expectations with internal and external stakeholders, including kit providers and technology partners, to ensure smooth operations.
    • Champion continuous improvement, driving innovations in process efficiencies, automation, and data-driven decision-making.

    Financial & Risk Management

    • Assist in the development and management of the annual Driver Resource budget.
    • Identify cost-saving opportunities through data analysis and strategic supplier management.
    • Ensure all stock and driver resources are legally compliant, proactively addressing risks and escalating issues when necessary.
    • Monitor and mitigate financial and operational risks linked to resource allocation, misuse, and stock shortages.

    Decision-Making Authority:

    • Manage stock levels and supplier sourcing within budgetary constraints.
    • Oversee purchase order approvals in line with company authorisation limits.
    • Escalate critical issues affecting business performance, ensuring swift resolution.

    Key Skills & Experience:

    • Strong analytical mindset with experience in inventory and data-driven decision-making.
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas, data modelling, and automation.
    • Experience managing high-volume operations in a fast-paced environment.
    • Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring data accuracy and resource efficiency.
    • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
    • Proactive problem-solving abilities with a focus on continuous improvement.
    • Resilient, highly organised, and tech-savvy.
    • Previous experience in a similar role within logistics or driver operations.
    • Familiarity with resource planning systems such as Manpack, MIB, or equivalent.
