Main duties and responsibilities:

Peter Day Precision and Hightown Engineering, Christchurch, has an opportunity for a CMM Inspector.

Job Summary
Responsible for validating part conformance to customer and internal requirements.

Responsible for inspecting across a number of functions to manufacturing / engineering drawings, work instructions, job cards, specifications and standards.


Perform dimensional measurement and inspection of a variety of manufactured and procured components using applicable measurement tools and techniques, including CMM (Aberlink) metrology equipment.

Work to a high accuracy and quality. Be self-motivated and be able to work with limited supervision.

Assist in RCA actions, prepare and submit FAIR's. Work with production, engineering and inspection to improve quality of product.


Key Responsibilities
Principally accountable for, but not limited to, the following

  • Goods inward inspection
  • To verify as required the quality of raw material, component parts, assemblies, processes and paperwork throughout the manufacturing cycle, on acceptance from the suppliers, in stores and at the point of despatch to guarantee the customer a quality product
  • To carry out first off and final Inspection of detailed parts and assembles in a timely efficient manner, using mechanical/CMM and or electronic measuring equipment
  • Generate CMM programs
  • Create and review First Articles Inspection Reports (FAIR) to AS9102 requirements
  • Assist in determining root cause and implement corrective action for customer complaints and product defects
  • Assist in maintaining a clean working environment, in order to ensure components are free from contamination and foreign objects, and consistent quality environmental and health and safety standards

Qualifications /Experience / Essential Criteria

  • Engineering Qualification/Apprenticeship
  • Conversant with the requirements of AS EN 9100
  • Minimum three years' experience as a Quality Inspector
  • Ability to dimensional inspect using CMMs (Aberlink) metrology equipment.
  • Proficient IT skills including MS-Office (primarily Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Proficient using various inspection equipment such as calipers, micrometres, height gages, indicators, etc.
  • Knowledge of Composites, Mechanical Assemblies and Manufacturing methods

Salary:
£15.00 per hour


Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Christchurch BH23 3TG: reliably commute or be willing to relocate with an employerprovided relocation package (preferred)

Education:


  • GCSE or equivalent (preferred)
